Five Child-Rearing Techniques to Raise Kind Kinds

Found this great Harvard article on how to raise kind children.  Completely agree with the first point about giving your child the opportunity to do kind things for others.

It's been a busy but fun week!  Monday night I went with a friend to see the New Kids On the Block concert which was loads of fun.  Yesterday we went with friends to hibachi dinner to celebrate the end of school.  Tonight my company's summer party is a cruise around Manhattan.

FUN!

Free Things to do in NYC

I had a really, really, really rough week.   I am so happy it is drawing to a close.

The one positive highlight is yesterday I took off to chaperone my big boy's trip to the New York Hall of Science

Somewhat busy weekend ahead -- my big boy has a friend's birthday party tonight.  Tomorrow he has another one.  Sunday will be low-key.

Tip - If you're looking for something to do this weekend check out Free Things to Do in NYC on Facebook for some ideas (they have variations of this for other big cities too).  Just discovered this recently and it looks interesting.

Have been listening quite a bit to Ed Sheerhan's new song Photograph.  Really didn't like him at all until 'thinking out loud' and now this song.  Very chill music which I need to take me down a notch. :)

Hope everyone has a nice Father's Day weekend!

Ten Habits of Really Organized People

It has been busy at home and work.  Before I recap what we've been up to I wanted to share this article which talks about Ten Habits of Really Organized People

Although it has been insanely hectic, I have been able to roll with in large part due to being super organized and knowing how to manage my time almost down to the minute in some cases.  This article gives other ideas for how to get yourself organized so you can get it all done.

Recap:  Weekend before last we went to family fun night at school.  I won my middle guy the prize of after school arts/crafts and ice cream party with his teacher and 3 of his friends.  My big guy won lunch and legos with his teacher from last year and 3 friends.  We also won front row seats to prek graduation.

The next day we went to dinner at Eastchester Fish Gourmet which was excellent.  Sunday tball, and family birthday.

Last Monday I left for Chicago for work.  The very next day I took a 6 AM flight out to catch my middle guy's prek graduation and just missed it. :(  The good news is I took the day off and went with my little men and all the school families to a local play place for the rest of the afternoon to celebrate which was fun.

Thursday my youngest had his moving up day from school.  He refused to sing, but it was cute anyway.  The teachers told me that he is the most affectionate little guy - running up to them random points throughout the day to give kisses.  :)

This past weekend we had an early kid's party on Friday followed by dinner out with friends at Club Car in Mamaroneck.  Saturday baseball games and parties followed by another party on Sunday.

Dress for Success in the Summer Months

Walk outside today in NYC and you would think it's the Fall and not June -- it is chilly!

The weather looks like it'll take a turn next week to more normal temperature in the 80s for this time of year.  With that in mind I came across this article which gives tips for how to dress like a CEO during the summer months.  In other words, just because it is a 100 degrees out doesn't make it ok to dress like a hooker at work. ;)    My office is an ice box in the Summer so the layering tip I fully support!

Summer Slow Cooker Recipes

Last weekend was a bit nutty.  Friday night went out and Saturday had back-to-back-to-back stuff -- birthday party, tball, baseball, one of my BFFs came over for dinner.  Sunday was a bit quieter with just a birthday party.

The good news is soon school will be over so some stress can be shed for a few weeks --  I need a break from sports activities, packing lunches, snacks, homework, projects, strict bedtimes, etc.

Speaking of Summer, I saw this post of Summer Slow Cooker Recipes.  I made ribs last week in the slow cooker and they came out awesome. Enjoy!
